HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SHOES

Use a small brush to clean the welts, and wipe the uppers clean with a damp cloth – Selvyt’s are washable

After air-drying, use a cloth to apply cream  in small circular motions. Most people only use wax polish, which won’t moisturise the leather.

When you’ve achieved a matte uniform finish, leave the shoes overnight. Think of it like a night cream. The next day, buff it off with a horsehair brush.

Time to shine, with a wax polish. Leave it for 5min. “If you brush the polish off straight away, only 10% will be absorbed,” explains Little.

Apply the polish again with a cloth in small circles, but this time build up the shine as you go, adding the odd drop of water (or even spit – its enzymes actually break down the wax).

After you’ve built up a shine, remove any residue with the brush. Use the small brush to apply polish to the welt and the back of the heel, and brush off any excess.
